If I knew what the future held I would be a richer thanyou could ever imagine but sense that is not the case I can only guess. I don't think gas rationing will happen in the near future but it does remain a possibility.

Not sure, but I would be leaning towards no. There is enough oil around, but they are keeping the amounts available artificially low to drive the price up. If the oil producing nations would allow the US to help them with improved technology, they could pump more but they don't want to because they would make less per barrel.

If I remember, this did not work well in the past. It just created long lines of cars at gas stations, theft, etc. Hiking up prices to astronomical levels seems to have a better effect. I would rather have the Gov. impose a "sudden" additional $1.00 per gallon tax that will be used to help the poor or improve our infrastructure, then rationing at the pump.

No, not unless we have an excess in production, and it's done only as a supplamental storage for another event down the road.

We would have to be in a situation, that would be world wide and of a high threat to our country, that we would need to reserve fuel to make the country secure.
There could be a short term rationing to slow the tempers of consumers of a short time shortage.
Would not expect this during the next year with all the politics and the trying to put on a good faces.

Not sure, but I hope not. I would hope that he general public will self-manage the amount of driving they do and control their own gas usage.

No, I don't think so. People seem to be driving less because of the increased cost of gas so there is probalby not much of a short supply problem to warrant rationing.

No ! The current fabricated shortage to maintain high prices could not justify rationing fuel anytime soon.

I sure hope not. If there is a shortage of something that is needed for our national defense then rationing would be acceptable. In this case we find capitalism at work and the oil industry is just making money the way we would all like to if we were in their place. While I may not like the hit the current prices put on me, I like it a lot more than socialism. (It would seem that everyone likes capitalism when they are the ones making the money, but not when they are having to pay.) When gas prices get high enough the masses will reduce their consumption of oil products and we will see the prices stabilize. Since some percentage of the population is willing to reduce their consumption at just about every incremental price increase we will have to wait and see at what point enough people reduce their consumption that the oil industry feels they would lose money if they raise prices any more.

Restrictions during War I can understand but rationing for the sake of rationing will defeat the purpose ie..The pries will go up because the more gas the oil companies sell the cheaper it will be for us. Take this example..Everyone wants a Ferrari but they sell them for a lot of money. They handbuild them rather then mass produce them and that takes time, thus not everyone can afford one. Besides, not everyone has similiar driving habits. I live in the suburbs and not in a downtown setting so why should I have to adjust my driving habits if I can afford to pay for the gas I use. How about limiting the sizes of building or houses. It cost more to heat those then to drive a car, talk about wasted energy or is this about bashing people with a little money and those who have..less..

yes i they should limit a person to 20 gallons a week. cut down on all extra travel except going to work store doctor and food if people can no longer go for pleasure it wont take long for the big bossiness and small to lose a lot of money in a hurry how long do you think it would be before the law makers and money hungry law makers would take to get things back where they ought to be

Many stations are already rationing gas here... The gas stations where we live only allow you to purchase $20 of gas at a time. So if we take my husband's truck, we have to get gas before and after work. Some gas stations allow you to purchase 10 gallons at a time.
